Career

Camila Maldi (She/Her/Hers) is an associate in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution and  Competition and Antitrust groups at Dentons.

Camila’s litigation practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, including shareholders oppression claims, class action defence, cartel defence and complex commercial disputes. Camila also advises clients in competition, antitrust and foreign direct investment matters. Camila also has experience with white collar investigations.

Prior to moving to Canada, Camila was an associate lawyer with one of the top three law firms in Brazil for competition law. Her practice included conducting internal investigations for antitrust violations, defending clients against the Brazilian watchdog agency (CADE), and bringing judicial review applications to the Brazilian Federal Courts.

Camila’s interest in litigation dates to her clerkship with the Hon. Justice José Araldo da Costa Telles at the São Paulo Court of Appeal. She was routinely engaged in deliberations on a broad array of civil and commercial disputes in appeal proceedings. This experience allowed her to better understand the judicial process and learn the importance of court procedures.

Camila obtained a bachelor degree in international relations, civil law degrees from University of São Paulo (USP) and Université Jean Moulin – Lyon 3, and a LLM degree from McGill University. This formal training and the ability to speak several languages provides her with a strong legal foundation to support and assist national and international clients. Camila also sits on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Council for the Americas.
