Principal

Principal in Clintons’ theatre team, advising producers, writers, composers and other creatives on theatre, live entertainment, rights and commercial matters.

Stephen is a Principal in Clintons’ theatre team. He advises producers, writers, composers and other creatives on the development, production and exploitation of theatre and live entertainment. His work includes commissions, options and underlying rights, production agreements, licensing, subsidiary rights and UK/US transfers.

Stephen also advises clients across the wider creative industries, including authors, performers, talent agencies, influencers, event organisers and charities.

Before qualifying as a solicitor, Stephen worked in various theatre jobs before moving into theatre publicity, including at the Royal Court Theatre and subsequently at an independent theatre PR agency working in the West End and across the UK.

Stephen is Co-Chair of the National Youth Arts Trust and a Trustee of the Bush Theatre and Mercury Musical Developments. He also teaches theatre law at university level and has worked as a literary translator of new Italian plays.
