Barry Wong (FCIArb) is a dual-qualified disputes lawyer (Hong Kong and England and Wales) with 7+ years PQE in hands-on, day-to-day running of cases in the full life-cycle of arbitrations – from pre-action advice, drafting notices of arbitration, through to pleadings, disclosure, witness statements, expert reports, and all the way to arbitration hearings (both in person and virtually), awards, enforcement and appeals.
Barry has experience in complex international arbitration as well as commercial litigation in all levels of the Courts of the HKSAR. Barry also has experience in various interlocutory matters such as jurisdictional challenges, security for costs, and consolidation / joinder.
Barry’s practice has a focus on construction and engineering claims and disputes in Asia, particularly in infrastructure and real estate development projects – covering various technical issues relating to EOT, loss and expense, delay and disruption, variations, defects, design, change in scope of work and LADs. Barry also works on non-contentious, transactional work, assisting developers, contractors and sub-contractors in all stages of the project development life-cycle.
Barry is a Committee Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators East Asia Branch Young Members Group, and a Council Member of the Society of Construction Law Hong Kong. Barry also is a certified Mental Health First Aider from the Mental Health Association of Hong Kong.
