Position

Egon Engin-Deniz is an attorney-at-law for intellectual property law and a leading expert in the fields of Life Sciences & Healthcare and TMC - Technology, Media & Telecommunications. He heads the Intellectual Property and Media Department of CMS in Vienna.

He has extensive expertise in contentious and non-contentious trademark, domain and patent law, copyright including access control law, distribution and unfair competition law. His team specialises in the prosecution of product piracy and the examination of parallel imports. Egon Engin-Deniz is a recognised expert in cross-border litigation and licensing.

Alongside the very strong litigation activity, companies are also strategically advised and represented (“cradle to grave”) in naming, portfolio management, trademark, patent and licensing strategies.

Career

Egon Engin-Deniz was recently re-elected Executive Member of the Board of the Vienna Bar Association and of the Austrian Federal Prosecutor's Office, where he mainly deals with the implementation of European law.

From 2009-2014 he headed the Practice Head IP of the Pan-European CMS IP Group, is a delegate of the International Trademark Association (INTA), the European Communities Trade Mark Association (ECTA), a member of the Council of MARQUES and Anti-Counterfeiting Team Member (European Brand Owners Association) and now a member of the MARQUES Anti-Counterfeiting and Parallel Trade Team, a member of the Programming Committee of the IT Law Day at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

Until 2008, he was state commissioner for the Austrian collecting societies OeSTIG and LSG.
