Guillermo Carey

Partner of Carey and co-head of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology, Venture Capital and Private Equity Groups. Also, he is the head of the Life Sciences, Technology and Consumer Law Group.His practice specializes in intellectual property, life sciences, IP litigation, licensing, distribution and franchise agreement, data privacy, technology law, trademarks, patents, electronic commerce, technology transfer and artificial intelligence.Guillermo has advised high-impact Chilean technology companies on technology transfer, and the internationalization of these.He has also advised the Chilean Government on various fronts related to IP and transfer of technology.

Francisco Carey

Partner of Carey and co-head of the firm´s Intellectual Property and Information Technology Group. His practice focuses on trademark and patent procedures and prosecution; licensing, distribution and franchise agreements; and anti-counterfeiting.

Fernando García

Counsel of Carey’s Intellectual Property and Information Technology Group. His practice focuses on intellectual property, especially on invention patents, including strategies for protection mechanisms, administrative and contentious registration processes, nullity procedures for granted registrations, technology transfer projects, and trademark and patent infringement litigation.

José Ignacio Mercado

Counsel at Carey's Data Protection and Technology Group. His practice focuses on matters related to privacy, data protection and cybersecurity, as well as intellectual property and the development of strategies to protect intellectual and industrial property, including preparation, negotiation and implementation of technology transfer agreements such as licensing agreements, franchising agreements, distribution agreements, among others.He also has experience assisting technology companies with the preparation and implementation of commercial scale-up and go-to-market actions, both in Chile and abroad.His practice also includes advice on regulatory matters in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and medical devices industries, as well as on topics regarding marketing and promotion of these products.
