Mariela Melhem is a partner at Mitrani Caballero, leading the Compliance and Crisis Management practice. With over 25 years of experience, she advises on complex domestic and cross-border transactions, joint ventures, and high-stakes commercial contracts across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Mariela is highly regarded for her expertise in anti-corruption, ESG, global trade compliance, export controls, and economic sanctions. She regularly designs and implements compliance programs, conducts due diligence, and provides training at all organizational levels.

Previously, she was a senior associate at Bruchou, Fernández Madero, Lombardi & Mitrani (1999–2007), an associate at BakerBotts, New York (1998–1999), and a visiting attorney at Vinson & Elkins, Houston (1998). Recognized by The Legal 500, Leaders League, and Chambers Latin America, she is also an International Certified Compliance Practitioner and frequent speaker at compliance conferences.
