Career
Stephen Gidiere has over twenty-five years of experience litigating environmental and natural resources cases against the federal government and non-governmental organizations in federal district courts, U.S. Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He represents businesses, local governments, and trade associations in environmental litigation, including enforcement actions, under federal environmental statutes including the Resources Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), and the Endangered Species Act. He also routinely handles challenges to agency rulemakings and other actions under those laws. Stephen is particularly experienced in handling litigation involving U.S. energy companies—both defensively when energy facilities are targeted in environmental litigation by the federal government and national interest groups and offensively in challenges to federal environmental regulations and administrative overreach.
