Personal
Mario Vlieg has been an associate at Alcogal since 2008, with a practice focused on corporate and financial law, including banking, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning.
He has extensive experience in structuring local and international financings, as well as in the design and implementation of corporate and fiduciary vehicles, such as multi-jurisdictional companies, private interest foundations, and trusts—both estate and security trusts—used in transactions and asset preservation structures. He also advises on the negotiation of complex agreements related to these structures.
Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the public sector as a legal consultant for the Colon Free Zone Administration and in the private sector as legal counsel for Colon Container Terminal, in addition to his experience in law firms. He has also collaborated with non-profit organizations.
He has served as a law professor and has been a speaker at international conferences in Europe, Asia, and the Americas on corporations, foundations, trusts, and international tax competition.
He is a graduate of Universidad Santa María la Antigua, where he earned his Law and Political Science degree and a Master’s degree in Maritime Law, and he also holds specializations in tax management and securities law.
