Luis specializes in advising international clients on their investments in Mexico. With a robust practice spanning transactional, commercial and regulatory matters, Luis is a trusted advisor across a diverse range of industries.

Luis’ expertise is particularly notable in sectors such as manufacturing, real estate, mining, energy & infrastructure, agroindustry, life sciences and alcohol & beverage.

In transactional matters, Luis routinely handles complex and strategic deals, such as joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, real estate developments, commercial and private finance, secured and unsecured lending transactions, cash flow and asset-based lending facilities. With solid academic and professional credentials in both the U.S. and Mexico, Luis' bicultural legal and business perspective provides him with a comprehensive understanding of the Mexican legal and regulatory landscape which, combined with a pragmatic approach, enables clients to navigate intricate investment opportunities and achieve their business objectives in Mexico.

Career

Luis Armendáriz is a Director Partner in the Chihuahua office of De Hoyos Avilés. His career spans Mexico and the United States, combining international legal training with substantial cross‑border practice experience.

Luis earned his law degree from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and subsequently obtained an LL.M. from Northwestern University in Chicago, focusing on international and business law. He began his legal career at Bryan Cave in the firm’s Phoenix office, where he developed experience in corporate, commercial, and cross‑border advisory work.

After several years in the United States, Luis returned to Mexico and established his own legal practice in the State of Chihuahua, advising domestic and international clients on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. His firm joined De Hoyos Avilés in 2023, when he became Director Partner of the Chihuahua office, expanding the firm’s regional presence and strengthening its capabilities in northern Mexico.

Luis is recognized for his cross‑border perspective, his client‑focused approach, and his ability to bridge U.S.–Mexico legal and business environments. His background enables him to guide companies, investors, and entrepreneurs through transactions and regulatory frameworks involving multiple jurisdictions
