Position

Neil McDonald is a Partner based in Walkers' London office and leads our Corporate and M&A Group. Neil specialises in corporate and finance transactions involving British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Bermuda law.

He has extensive first-hand experience across the full range of corporate matters, including:
- Mergers, acquisitions and disposals (including take-privates, business combinations and de-SPACs);
- Equity capital markets (including IPOs) and private placements;
- Corporate reorganisations and redomiciliations;
- Joint ventures;
- Digital assets, fintech and new technologies.

He also has significant experience on cross-border restructuring and distressed situations involving BVI, Cayman Islands and Bermuda entities, including shareholder and investor disputes, complex equity and debt restructurings, and group reorganisations.

Neil also has a broad finance practice covering acquisition finance, real estate finance , debt capital markets, project finance and financial restructurings. He acts for many of the world's leading international financial institutions, as well as borrowers, issuers and other counterparts.

Neil also heads up our Israel Group, which provides time-zone sensitive support to clients in Israel across transactions involving Bermuda, BVI, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Irish and Jersey law.

Career

Prior to joining Walkers, Neil worked in one of the corporate groups at Slaughter and May in London for six years, where he advised public and private companies, asset management groups, investment funds, banks and other financial institutions.

Neil joined Walkers in 2010, spending two years in Walkers' Jersey office before relocating to Walkers' London office.
