Position

James is a partner at Walkers and a member of the firm's Corporate and Finance groups.

He is based in the London office and advises on both Cayman Islands law and BVI law aspects of a broad range of corporate and finance transactions. His practice includes:
- Mergers, acquisitions and disposals (including take-privates, business combinations and de-SPACs)
- Restructuring and distressed situations (including complex debt and equity restructurings)
- Equity capital markets (including IPOs) and private placements
- Corporate reorganisations and redomiciliations
- Joint ventures
- Digital assets, fintech and new technologies

James also has a broad finance practice covering deriviatives and structured finance, financial restructurings, real estate finance and fund finance.

Career

Prior to joining Walkers in 2018, James trained and worked as an associate at Allen & Overy LLP in the Derivatives and Structured Finance team. Work here included a variety of OTC derivatives transactions, regulatory work, restructurings, contentious Lehman Brothers matters and a secondment to the Structured Finance and Securities Desk at Credit Suisse.

James has also spent a year in the Cayman Islands advising on the Cayman law aspects of a wide range of finance and corporate transactions.
