Position

Nigel heads up our Banking and Finance practice for the Channel Islands.
Based in Jersey, he brings thirty-five years of experience in banking, finance, regulatory matters, investment funds, trusts, listings on TISE and all aspects of offshore banking, finance and corporate work.

Nigel heads a leading team of dedicated lawyers specialising in all aspects of Jersey and Guernsey banking and finance law including:

Nigel advises a range of global banks, major corporates, blue-chip investment managers and private investment houses. He works closely with top law firms and accountancy practices in London, as well as local administrators, trustees, and other intermediaries and services providers.

Career

Nigel is a Jersey advocate, a non-practicing English solicitor and Cayman Islands advocate. Before joining Walkers, Nigel was a partner at another leading offshore firm for 14 years. There he headed up the firm's real-estate funds and structuring team, advising on funds, all types of real-estate holding structures, as well as other mainstream corporate and finance work. Before moving offshore, he was at Simmons & Simmons.

Memberships

Nigel has served for a number of years on the committee of the Jersey Funds Association, which works closely with industry, regulators and legislators. He has also been Chairman of the Legal, Regulatory, Tax and Compliance Subcommittee of the JFA. In these roles he has been at the forefront of the development of the Island's funds industry, working on the introduction of Jersey expert funds and Jersey unregulated funds among many other initiatives.

He is also a member of both the Institute of Directors and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Nigel has spoken at a number of conferences on a variety of aspects of Jersey law.​
