Position
David's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate law, providing strategic advice on many of Canada's largest and most complex transactions. He also regularly advises private equity sponsors on cross-border mid-market acquisitions and dispositions. In addition, David advises foreign companies on establishing and structuring their Canadian investments and operations. His experience includes structuring and negotiating various domestic and cross-border commercial arrangements, including joint venture, shareholder, partnership and commercial agreements. David formerly served as the Practice Group Leader of the Blakes Corporate & Commercial group in Toronto.
David’s recent representative M&A transactions include advising GMS on its US$5.5-billion sale to The Home Depot, Smucker subsidiary Hostess on its US$305-million divestiture of the Voortman brand to Second Nature Brands, a CapVest Partners portfolio company, Atlantic Street Capital’s portfolio company CyberGuard on its acquisition of Control Gap, Gauge Capital on its strategic investment in AGT Robotics, and The Walter Group on its acquisition of assets and formation of the Professional Women’s Hockey League.
