Career

Simon Schooling has a broad practice in international arbitration and commercial litigation, focusing on disputes in the energy and natural resources sectors.

He has acted in commercial international arbitration under the major arbitral institutions and rules, often working with lawyers in other jurisdictions. He is experienced in investment arbitration through ICSID, and in public international law.  He has represented clients in courts and tribunals, including the High Court and Court of Appeal.

His work involves mining, power, infrastructure, oil and gas, hydro-electric and other renewables, finance, engineering and construction. He is experienced in injunctive work, including urgent interim relief, as well as enforcement. He has acted in disputes of all sizes, including where more than $1 billion is at stake.

His clients have included listed energy companies, joint venturers, government entities, and policyholders.

He also advises in relation to professional negligence claims, and he works with the firm’s Global Tech, Outsourcing and Privacy practice.
