Matt advises and defends clients across industries with the strategic insights as the former General Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, a former environmental litigator at the U.S. Department of Justice, and the former General Counsel for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

Clients turn to Matt to tackle some of the biggest business risks related to EPA regulation and enforcement facing the energy, chemical, transportation, manufacturing, and agriculture industries. Matt is involved in high stakes challenges of EPA rulemaking, and he regularly defends major EPA and DOJ enforcement actions. He helps clients chart a course through the multiple changing EPA regulations under the Clean Air Act, the Toxic Substances Control Act, Clean Water Act, and other environmental statutes. His in-depth experience and knowledge on pivotal environmental regulation for climate, air, water, and chemicals, as well as his contacts in the federal government, enable the highest quality advocacy.

Matt also provides pragmatic and strategic compliance solutions for project permitting and operations throughout the country. Matt is able to provide deep insight into permitting processes of federal and multiple state agencies, enabling clients to navigate compliance.

Matt is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the DC, Fifth, and Sixth Circuits.
