Career
Caitlin is a dynamic trial lawyer who has handled multiple high-profile commercial litigation matters for some of the world’s largest financial institutions, technology companies, and energy giants.
“I am very impressed with her. She's got a lot of potential.”
“Caitlin Halpern is praised for her assistance in complex commercial litigation and securities-related disputes.”
- Chambers 2024-2025
Caitlin was named American Lawyer Media Texas’s “Pro Bono Attorney the Year” in 2025, and was a finalist for “Influential Woman of the Year” in 2024.
She is a key member of team representing Google in a massive advertising technology antitrust lawsuit; and was lead trial counsel for X Corp. in a $120 million breach of contract dispute brought by server maker Wiwynn Corp. that settled favorably.
Caitlin is currently co-lead trial counsel for PIMCO in three RMBS matters with at least $700 million at stake involving US Bank and Wells Fargo pending in New York Supreme Court. One matter is now on appeal to the Appellate Division following a 3.5-week trial in May/June 2025; the others are stayed pending that appeal.
Caitlin was a key member of the trial team that secured resounding victories for PIMCO in two precedent-setting matters in CA and NY. These decisions ultimately affect billions of dollars of RMBS securities. Working on these bellwether cases, Caitlin’s skillset was on full display as she solely presented an entire oral argument for PIMCO and the other aligned investor parties in Orange County, California following which the Court issued an order granting summary judgment entirely in PIMCO’s favor. This victory called off a long-planned trial setting and was significant for many reasons, including that, until now, no court has ever ruled on this issue. Soon after, the New York Supreme Court followed suit and granted judgment on the pleadings in PIMCO’s favor.
Caitlin was a key member of the Occidental Chemical trial team that secured complete trial victories in a case in which Oxy was accused of fraud and breach of contract related to the Bayou Corne Sinkhole. The team first prevailed in a several-week arbitration regarding the arbitrability of the claims, then prevailed in another several-week arbitration on the merits.
Caitlin was lead counsel in $1 million contract dispute involving complex veil-piercing and arbitrability issues for an energy industry tech start-up company, which settled favorably.
Caitlin has a burgeoning niche practice for the firm’s private and law firm clients. She has handled three high-stakes probate matters, including representation of a charitable foundation faced with allegations of lack of capacity and undue influence. She also drafted a successful motion to compel arbitration in a suit accusing an Am Law 100 firm of malpractice and other misconduct.
Caitlin’s tireless civic activism and philanthropy add another dimension to her depth as a trial lawyer and fierce advocate for her clients. Caitlin serves as Gibbs & Bruns’s pro bono liaison as well as Executive Director of the Rikers Debate Project. Her efforts have won her recognition by the American Bar Association, America Lawyer Media, and the Houston Business Journal:
