Career
Jorge Gutierrez plays leading roles in several of the firm's most significant energy, commercial, and antitrust disputes.
He was part of the trial team representing major national retailers, including Target, Macy's, Staples, Office Depot, and JCPenney, in landmark antitrust litigation against Visa and Mastercard involving more than $20 billion in alleged damages.
Jorge also plays a significant role in the firm's representation of an Am Law 100 firm in a high-profile legal malpractice and fiduciary duty lawsuit seeking more than $200 million in alleged damages arising from underlying trade secrets litigation.
His recent energy-sector work includes securing a jury trial take-nothing verdict for Hi-Crush Permian Sand, representing OxyChem in large-scale CERCLA litigation, and helping obtain appellate victories and a favorable settlement for Sanchez Energy in a significant oil and gas trade secrets dispute. He was also part of the team that secured a take-nothing victory in Delaware Chancery Court on behalf of David Dunwoody in litigation brought by EnVen Energy Corp.
