Career

Charles’ practice is flush with experience ranging from antitrust, breach of contract and transnational law to extensive energy industry work with clients ranging from energy tech startup Workrise to giants like Occidental and Enterprise, and operators such as SM Energy.

Currently, Charles plays a central role in the firm’s massive advertising technology antitrust lawsuit for Google – trial date pending.

Over the past five years, Workrise hired Charles to handle some of its most significant matters. The relationship began when Charles and his G&B trial team helped RigUp obtain a major victory under the Texas Citizens Participation Act. The resulting appellate opinion, which addresses an important First Amendment issue regarding free speech, is published as RigUp, Inc. v. Sierra Hamilton, 613 S.W.3d 177 (Tex. App.—Austin 2020).

Workrise proudly showcases a case victory in which Gibbs & Bruns represented RigUp, on its website.

Charles was also a key member of the $115 million Enterprise settlement team, and the $100 million+ contingent plaintiff’s case for E&P client Lone Star Production Company.
