Paul is a Partner and Head of Real Estate Taxation in our Tax group in London, specializing in real estate tax and structured finance.

He advises on the establishment, merger, restructuring, financing and winding-up of all forms of real estate funds, holding structures and joint ventures. Paul also advises on taxation of stand-alone securitisations, including RMBS transactions, as well as the bespoke structuring on the interaction of securitisation finance techniques and real estate holding structures. He has also been involved in advising local authorities and related entities on large-scale development projects and tax and financing efficient holding structures.

Paul regularly advises on the VAT, SDLT and direct tax issues involved in direct real estate transactions, including development projects, acquisitions, forward fundings, contractual and proprietary joint ventures across the broad real estate asset classes, as well as niche assets, including student accommodation, residential conversions and build to rent.
