Gianluca is an Associate in Eversheds Sutherland’s Tax team whose work in particular focuses on the real estate tax practice area, which includes advice on VAT, SDLT and direct tax, covering a range of complex real estate tax planning, including fund structuring for institutional and private capital investors and large development projects.

Gianluca’s recent experience includes advising a large international bank in relation to their global HQ relocation. This was the decade's largest real estate deal in the U.K. and Europe, winning several awards and included an extensive analysis of the VAT disapplication provisions, negotiation of a complex agreement and structuring of the development to mitigate the risk. Gianluca has also recently advised a large regulated residential fund focused on student accommodation with assets exceeding £2bn on its property exchanges, refinancing and VAT structuring and large institutional lenders on the structuring of part of the wider group focused on developing, acquiring and holding large private rented sector assets.

In addition to real estate tax, Gianluca works with the corporate tax team on a variety of M&A transactions and the contentious tax team, primarily on matters related to VAT, which has included work on a recent, complex, successful judicial review claim.
