Mariya Rankin is a Principal Associate in the Construction and Engineering disputes team, based in London.

Mariya has significant experience conducting (and where necessary driving) ADR in high-value, multi-party disputes. She advises on all aspects of dispute avoidance and dispute management, in the context of complicated contractual relationships and technical issues on major projects. Her sector strengths include office, residential, mixed-use development, energy powerplants, and off-shore oil and gas. She has notable experience acting on international arbitrations in the energy sector, including major final account and complex delay disputes. She also regularly leads adjudications and related litigation on large central London developments, advising employer-developers on multifaceted dispute strategies through to project completion. Her practice increasingly includes acting on Building Safety Act and life safety disputes, and clients have described Mariya’s support as “instrumental to allowing clients to be a step ahead or prepared for issues as they arise”. She is recognised for her calm, strategic approach on business critical matters. Mariya also has a particular interest in sustainability driven issues, and advises on the legal, contractual and liability challenges arising from the reuse of existing building materials and circular economy initiatives.
