Robert Gowing is a partner in our Planning and Infrastructure Consenting team, and the development and regeneration lead in London and the South-East. He advises on broad range of planning matters covering the full development life cycle - from pre-application stage to consent, including environmental assessment, compulsory acquisition of land, and, on contentious issues including appeals and judicial review.

Robert has considerable experience working with public and private companies, investment funds, and established major residential, commercial and strategic land developers. Projects range from complex single site buildings to major mixed-uses urban regeneration schemes and strategic housing delivery. He also supports clients on significant data centre developments and infrastructure (including water and aviation).

Robert’s passion for the built environment builds upon his professional degree in architecture and his specialist heritage experience as a senior national advisor at English Heritage (now Historic England). These unique skills supplement his wider planning advice, and enables Robert to provide targeted advice on the assessment of heritage impacts, including EIA reviews as part of wider assessment of landscape and townscape.
