Position

Partner Matthew Cox has more than 20 years of experience in commodities and trade finance, advising banks, funds, traders, producers and other market participants on the structuring and execution of complex cross-border financing arrangements. His practice focuses particularly on pre-export and advance payment structures, borrowing bases, receivables, warehouse financing, commodity repos and ECA-backed financings, and he regularly advises both lenders and borrowers on transactions spanning the production, refining and transportation of commodities.

Matthew has experience acting for fintechs, platform providers and non-bank capital providers, guiding clients through the digitalisation of trade finance and the implementation of innovative financing platforms. His work frequently spans multiple jurisdictions, including London, Dubai, Tokyo and Singapore, reflecting his deep understanding of the legal and commercial frameworks that shape the global trade finance market. Matthew is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales.
