Position

With over 50 years of litigation experience, Gene has served as lead counsel in more than 125 jury trials across civil and criminal courts. His practice centers on complex commercial disputes, with a strong emphasis on energy law. He has represented public and private corporations, individuals, and the State of Texas in high-stakes cases in state and federal courts nationwide.

He brings substantial expertise in:

  • Energy Litigation: Extensive involvement in disputes related to joint operating agreements, gas purchase contracts, royalty matters, operator removal, exploration agreements, and gas plant accounting.
  • Commercial and Corporate Litigation: Experience spans breach of contract, fiduciary duty claims, DTPA, fraud (including securities and CFTC-related), antitrust, price fixing, and more.
  • Professional Liability and Torts: Defended and prosecuted claims involving medical/legal malpractice, product liability, defamation, and class actions.
  • Intellectual Property and Employment: Cases involving trade secrets, IP infringement, covenants not to compete, and employment disputes.

Gene began his career as an Assistant District Attorney with the Harris County District Attorney's Office, where he worked from 1975-1980.
