Career

Nick Kendrick is a partner in Mayer Brown's Global Energy practice. Clients turn to Nick for advice on the sale and purchase of LNG, project development (including LNG liquefaction and regasification terminals), acquisitions and divestments, and joint ventures.

Nick advises on transactions across the LNG value chain, including long-term LNG SPAs for FOB volumes (including offtake from US export projects) and DES sales into countries across Asia and Europe, the acquisition of interests in LNG export terminals and associated offtake arrangements, and regasification capacity arrangements including terminal use agreements. In total, Nick has advised on over 50 long-term LNG SPAs globally. Nick’s most recent experience includes advising on significant marketing campaigns for LNG export projects in the Middle East, on-sales and trading arrangements relating to short-term and long-term LNG sale and purchase arrangements, and the development of multiple LNG-to-power projects in Vietnam.

Nick also advises on upstream oil and gas transactions across Southeast Asia. Clients in the energy sector also instruct Nick for his guidance on decommissioning, abandonment and transition arrangements relating to upstream petroleum arrangements.

In addition, Nick works closely with disputes colleagues and advises on arbitrations involving LNG transactions. Nick has recently advised on disputes relating to price review, force majeure and failure to deliver under LNG SPAs, and LNG vessel charter terms and conditions of use.

Nick has recently advised clients including Deutsche Energy Terminal, Excelerate Energy, OQ Trading, Itochu Corporation and POSCO.
