Ammaar Joya advises energy sector clients on complex regulatory matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy.
Ammaar draws on broad experience, both in private practice and in-house at leading energy companies, to help clients navigate regulatory issues involving:

LNG facility and natural gas pipeline development under the Natural Gas Act

Rate, certificate, tariff, and rulemaking proceedings

Energy regulatory diligence and disclosures in financing and M&A transactions

Natural gas purchase, transportation, and commercial agreements

Administrative litigation before FERC and appellate review of FERC orders
He brings a practical understanding of commercial, regulatory, and policy considerations to clients’ business-critical energy infrastructure issues affecting the natural gas and oil industries, with an emphasis on federal permitting, cost-of-service ratemaking, gas-electric coordination, and related compliance.
Before joining Latham, Ammaar was in-house counsel for several energy companies and practiced at another global law firm.
