Ignacio Gómez-Sancha is a partner in the Corporate Department of Latham & Watkins’ Madrid office. His practice focuses on representing investors and companies at critical stages of their development, with particular emphasis on capital markets transactions.
Mr. Gómez-Sancha advises on corporate and capital markets law, assisting both Spanish and foreign companies in all legal matters related to their business in Spain: IPOs, takeovers, venture capital transactions, mergers and acquisitions, special situations, and distressed investments. He has a deep understanding of the functioning of financial markets, which helps him in very complex matters.
Position
Ignacio Gómez-Sancha, Managing Partner of the Madrid office of Latham & Watkins, advises Spanish and multinational clients on their most complex cross-border transactions.
Mr. Gómez-Sancha leverages extensive experience advising on Spain’s largest corporate transactions, both in private practice and as in-house counsel, to help institutional investors, investment banks, private equity funds, and public companies navigate:

- Equity capital markets, including private placements and initial public offerings (IPOs)
- Public and private M&A
- Private equity and takeover transactions
He served as the General Counsel of Bolsas y Mercados Españoles (BME), the Spanish stock exchange operator, and as a member of the Consultative Committee of the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores, the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission. He also represented Spain before the European Commission and Unidroit in several international conventions and drafting committees.
Mr. Gómez-Sancha now serves as Secretary of the Board of CFA Society Spain.
