Joseph is widely recognized as a leading intellectual property litigator and trial lawyer whose practice includes high-stakes patent and trade secret disputes before federal trial and appellate courts nationwide. Chambers USA (2023) quotes a client as commenting that “Joseph is a brilliant patent lawyer.” Intellectual Asset Management magazine named Joseph an IAM Patent 1000 leading patent practitioner for Litigation (2021–2025), noting that Joseph is a “highly accomplished attorney” that excels “at high-stakes cases” and is a “smart pick for patent and trade secret litigation.” Lawdragon (2025) named him among the “500 Leading Global IP Lawyers.” The Legal 500 has recognized Joseph for patent litigation generally (2020–2022); for patent litigation before the International Trade Commission (2019–2020, 2025); and for trade secrets (litigation and non-contentious matters) (2019–2020).
Joseph has represented clients in cases involving a wide range of industries, including agriculture, autonomous vehicles, biologics, biotechnology, computer hardware and software, cruise ships, digital photography, food science, exercise equipment, medical devices, networking protocols, oil drilling, plant breeding, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, robotics, smart phones and wireless communications. Joseph's client victories have been featured in The American Lawyer, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Law360. Joseph also frequently advises clients on intellectual property aspects of strategic commercial deals, including M&A transactions, joint ventures, licensing, and private equity investments.
Joseph has served as Special Assistant District Attorney for the Kings County District Attorney's Office and Special Assistant Corporation Counsel for the Law Department of the City of New York. Joseph has also coached New York City high school mock trial teams and judged mock trial and moot court law school competitions. In 2012, Kirkland named Joseph its Pro Bono Partner of the Year. Joseph is also a member of the Firmwide Pro Bono Management Committee.
