With more than two decades of experience and a perspective that appreciates both the big picture and critical details, Patricia Werner works with global brands across a wide range of industries to help them manage, leverage, and protect their IP portfolios. Organized and meticulous, Patricia focuses on maximizing the value of her clients’ trademark and copyright assets domestically and worldwide.
A member of the firm’s Trademark and Copyright and Litigation practice groups, Patricia handles all aspects of trademark and copyright protection, including domestic and international trademark portfolio management, clearing and prosecuting trademarks, licensing, IP due diligence investigations, and U.S. and foreign enforcement proceedings. Her clients include prominent brands in the consumer products, entertainment, retail, fashion, software and computer-related technology, gaming, and financial services sectors.
The value Patricia adds, the candid counsel she provides, and the consistent results she obtains have earned praise from clients and recognition from her peers. Patricia was recognized in World Trademark Review’s “The World’s Leading Trademark Professionals” from 2017-2025. The Legal 500 has described her as “immersed within the sectors of fashion, retail and entertainment,” and someone who “excels on the portfolio management side.” Clients describe Patricia as “intelligent, responsive, business-minded,” “the best trademark specialist I have come across in almost 20 years of being in the industry,” and someone who is “quick, shrewd, responsive, efficient, intelligent, and entirely delightful.”
In addition to her extensive domestic IP experience, Patricia is exceptionally well-versed in the many intersecting legal frameworks that govern global intellectual property matters, allowing her clients to protect their interests and seize opportunities wherever they arise. This includes handling international trademark, copyright, and domain-name enforcement matters. A skilled advocate, she represents clients in court actions, oppositions before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) proceedings, and in preparing cease and desist letters.
Goal-oriented and with a keen understanding of her clients’ businesses and industries, Patricia negotiates and prepares license agreements, coexistence agreements, and related intellectual property agreements. She is also involved in corporate transactions, including negotiating asset purchases and related agreements in various transactional matters.
