Position

Adriana Vargas is the Director of Litigation and Arbitration at Lexincorp Costa Rica. She has a solid track record in commercial and construction arbitration, as well as in complex litigation. After earning her Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Columbia Law School, she joined the New York office of one of the most prestigious law firms in the United States, where she handled cases before the NYC Commission on Human Rights and the NY State Division of Human Rights. During this period, she actively participated in judicial and administrative hearings, including proceedings before the Federal Court.

Additionally, she has overseen over a hundred cases in commercial, civil, and labor law at a leading dispute resolution firm recognized in the Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 rankings. She has advised prominent international and Costa Rican companies on labor regulations compliance, prepared witnesses for trials, and reviewed contracts, identifying potential contingencies from a litigation perspective to safeguard her clients’ interests.

Career

Adriana has successfully represented the interests of one of the country’s leading construction companies before the Conflict Resolution Center of the Costa Rican College of Engineers and Architects in a highly complex and multimillion-dollar case related to an alleged contractual breach by the construction company, achieving a strong and strategic defense. She also did an exceptional job representing a prominent real estate developer in a case before the International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (CICA) of the Costa Rican-American Chamber of Commerce. Her precise approach, expert knowledge, and argumentative skills were key to the successful management of this high-value process. Additionally, she has successfully handled cases before the Consumer Support Directorate, an agency of the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Commerce, demonstrating her ability to defend her clients’ interests in consumer protection matters. She has also excellently represented companies and individuals in large-scale litigation in the judicial route, standing out for her rigor, strategy, and high level of commitment in resolving complex disputes.
