Position

Career
Robert Zinn brings decades of elite corporate practice to Blank Rome, where he advises on the full lifecycle of complex business transactions. A Hall of Fame inductee in the Legal 500 United States for M&A: Middle-Market (U.S. $500m–999m)—one of only two lawyers nationally to hold that distinction—he is recognized for combining sharp commercial instincts with deep technical skill across M&A, financial restructuring, and corporate finance.
Clients and peers consistently highlight Robert's ability to operate as a true strategic partner rather than a purely legal technician. The 2025 Chambers Guide to the USA (Band 1, Corporate/M&A & Private Equity) calls him "strategic and savvy on commercial and legal matters," "always available and a tough negotiator," and praises his "ability to foresee, anticipate and address issues before they materialize."
Robert's transactional record spans hundreds of domestic and cross-border deals—from early-stage venture investments to matters exceeding five billion dollars. Representative engagements include leading a €2.25 billion restructuring of a global metals company, a multi-continent carve-out divestiture of an advanced manufacturing business, and a $145 million cross-border sale of a prominent events industry company.
A significant portion of his practice centers on large family-owned enterprises navigating generational transitions, governance challenges, and shifting industry dynamics. He is equally experienced in distressed situations, having guided operating companies, private equity sponsors, and hedge funds through acquisitions of troubled businesses, out-of-court debt and equity restructurings, and the full range of associated liability, valuation, and disclosure issues.
Robert's client base is global and cuts across manufacturing and industrials, technology, metals and mining, financial services and FinTech, healthcare, and events. He serves public and private companies of all sizes, restructuring advisers, investment banks, and institutional investors.
Before joining Blank Rome, Robert spent over fifteen years co-leading the firm-wide corporate practice of an AmLaw 50 global law firm.
