Biography:

Ignacio Naudon is a member of the Dispute Resolution Practice Group in the Santiago office. He first joined Baker McKenzie in 2004 as a law clerk, returning again in 2008 after completing his law studies. In March 2010, Ignacio left Baker McKenzie to become the national director of the National Institute of Youth, the state agency in charge of public policies for the Chilean youth. After finishing his government work, he rejoined Baker McKenzie in 2012. In 2013 he was awarded the Chevening Scholarship sponsored by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office to pursue his master’s degree in the UK (University College of London). In addition to his practice, Mr. Naudon has been a board member of the European office of the NGO TECHO; member of the board of the Chilean think tank HORIZONTAL; and he is part of the Procedural Law Department of the Universidad Católica School of Law.

Since 2014, Ignacio has consistently been recognized in the Latin America and Global editions of the Chambers and Partners ranking in the area of dispute resolution. In its 2022 edition, Chambers Latin America noted: “Partner Ignacio Naudon is acknowledged by interviewees for his work and expertise in the dispute resolution arena, regularly acting on behalf of a range of clients in commercial litigation mandates. ‘He knows our business inside out as well as our interests and does superb work,’ a client says.”

Mr. Naudon focuses on litigation and domestic and international arbitration, with an emphasis on the areas of civil, commercial and public law. He has broad experience in disputes related to infrastructure projects, construction contracts, distribution agreements, securities, shareholder agreements, and mergers or acquisitions, among others. He has a strong practice in class actions and broad experience in negotiations of settlement agreements; risk assessment; and analysis of potential contingencies in contract negotiations.

  • Represented a German energy company in an international arbitration regarding contractual liability for breach of a consortium agreement and incompatible negotiations (Amount: USD 50,000,000).
  • Represented a multinational North American manufacturer company in a national arbitration regarding product liability (Amount: USD 70,000,000).
  • Participation in the defense of a Chinese consortium in an international arbitration regarding the construction of a power energy station (Amount: USD 250,000,000).
  • Represented an investment fund in a local arbitration regarding the construction contract for a shopping center (Amount: USD 30,000,000).
  • Represented an Australian mining company in a local arbitration relating to the breach of shareholders agreement (Amount: USD 40,000,000).
  • Participated in several class action suits initiated both by the Consumer Protection Authority and Consumer Associations, representing, among others, a pension fund manager, private health insurance providers, and manufactory companies, for a total amount of over USD 500,000,000.
  • Participated in the development of internal compliance investigations to determine potential configuration corruption offenses, antitrust infringements and violations of the internal code of conduct.
