Career

Cansu was recruited in 2021 from specialist Court of Protection firm Gillham’s where she assisted four Panel Deputies in a variety of cases including financial abuse, fraud and brain injuries.

The majority of Cansu’s caseload are cases referred by the panel.  As such she is able to handle complex Court of Protection work including significant financial abuse cases in excess of £1m.

Cansu has a particular interest in cases involving personal injury and clinical negligence claims. These often involve children who have cerebral palsy where an independent Deputy is required to deal with a multi-million pound settlement. In these cases Cansu works closely with litigation solicitors, case managers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and other experts to ensure that her clients day to day life runs smoothly.

We also have several cases where the partners of the firm are Attorneys for clients under registered Lasting Powers of Attorney. Cansu also assists with the day to day management of these clients.

Memberships

Cansu is currently undertaking her STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) Diploma and anticipates achieving full accreditation on May 2024. This will give her the kitemark of excellence in Advising Vulnerable Clients.

Education

Cansu Hussein studied his law degree at the University of Westminster, graduating in 2011 with a First Class Honours. Cansu then completed the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in London where she achieved a distinction.

Personal

On a personal note, in her spare time Cansu likes to travel and explore the UK and abroad.
