Career

Chris joined Weightmans in September 1994 and became a Partner in 1999.

Chris is the Lead Partner for Motor Claims and is also responsible for the development of innovative tools for both internal and client usage in the Claims space. In the latter role he works closely with our Product and Innovation team and also external suppliers to enable the firm to develop cutting edge technologies that drive internal efficiencies and save clients time and money.

Chris continues to handle claims himself, specialising in the recovery of costs following successful repudiations by his colleagues. This involves consideration of applications to lift the veil of QOCS under either CPR44.15 or for fundamental dishonesty, wasted costs orders and non-party costs order, especially against credit hire organisations.

Chris is nominated by insurers and various corporates including global hire companies, bus companies, utility companies and retailers. He and his team use various methods of enforcement which have helped deliver recoveries exceeding £1m per year for client.

Chris delivers training and seminars for clients, particularly focused on recoveries, the claims process, claims defensibility and reducing avoidable litigation in order to save money for his clients. He also written for a number of publications including the firm’s Insurance Insights publication and various trade press publications.

Chris is a member of FOIL and the Confederation of Passenger Transport and, in his spare time, he is a keen triathlete.
