Casualty Fraud

Phil qualified in 2009 and joined Weightmans in July 2013 as a solicitor before becoming an Associate in 2017 and subsequently a Principal Associate in 2019. He currently manages a team in the Casualty department.

He handles a wide variety of public liability and employers' liability claims for a wide variety of clients in both the public and private sectors and has a particular specialism in highways claims made against local authorities.

He successfully acted for the local authority in the widely discussed matter of ‘Heath McCabe v Cheshire West & Chester Council & BAM Nuttall Ltd’ that looked at questions of misfeasance and non-feasance and powers vs duties.
