Senior Associate

Mátyás is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution team of the Budapest office, where he offers clients expertise in dispute resolution, tax and competition law matters.

As a former competitive fencer, he learned that passion and hard work always pay off – regardless of if you are on the piste, behind your desk, or in a courtroom. A dedication to the principles of mutual respect and decency, which he also learned from fencing, helps him to work effectively with his colleagues and to offer clients a distinguished service.

During the past few years, he has developed extensive experience in commercial, tax and competition litigation, claims for damages, domestic and international commercial arbitration, as well as alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

In addition, he has a keen interest in tax law. He has also gained experience in the European and Hungarian value added tax system and the double tax treaties of Hungary.

He joined Bird & Bird's team in Budapest in 2018. Prior to this, he interned and worked for a major Hungarian law firm for almost four years. During his university years, he also had the opportunity to work as a camp counsellor for two summers in Canada.
