Nicolas is a partner in our Banking & Finance Group, based in Paris.

Position

Nicolas has over 25 years of experience practicing banking and financial law and has extensive experience of the Industry, having supported a broad range of players: credit and payment institutions, investment firms, asset managers, insurance companies and financial intermediaries.

He provides his clients advice and assistance relating to the provision of banking, investment, fund management and insurance services or financial intermediation, both from a regulatory and transactional perspective. Nicolas  has extensive knowledge of laws and regulations that apply to different types of banking and financial activities in France and the EU, as well as of the procedures for obtaining relevant permissions or licences. His practice aims to address the needs of both local and international players :

  • In the banking / payment services and capital markets space, he supports clients with initial set-ups (including applications for authorization and EU passport filings), the design and roll out of large-scale and cross-border, reorganizations, business cooperation / joint-venture schemes and marketing / product distribution arrangements. More generally, he provides technical advice relating to day-to-day business on a broad range of banking or capital markets related issues
  • In the Asset Management area,  he has long-standing experience with structuring AMF-authorized investment management companies and their funds, primarily in the alternative space (private equity and real estate areas in particular). He also advises foreign players on the marketing of their funds in France (alternative or UCITS), with due consideration given to local rules and constraints (112)
  • In the Insurance sector,  he supports both insurers and brokers, with particular focus on product-related regulatory and contractual issues, distribution schemes and reorganisation and / or merger of insurance companies.
