St John acts for a range of institutional and private commercial clients, including head contractors, project owners, insurers and international infrastructure groups. His clients include long-standing relationships with European infrastructure conglomerates and national project management companies. He is based in Melbourne and advises on projects across Victoria and nationally.

St John advises on procurement and tendering, project delivery models, construction contract documentation, insurance policy and indemnity issues, project administration and risk management. He acts extensively in the strategic management and resolution of complex technical and legal disputes. He also advises on construction all risk, professional indemnity, works and public liability insurance policies, including claims under the Insurance Contracts Act 1984.

St John’s practice spans more than 30 years across the full range of construction and infrastructure work. His matters include major Victorian infrastructure programs, water treatment and operations projects, regional fast rail, and complex multi-party insurance and indemnity disputes. He has advised the same major institutional clients continuously for more than 20 years.

St John’s depth of sector experience, combined with long-standing client relationships and active industry engagement, positions him as a senior practitioner with genuine authority across the full project lifecycle. He is a regular presenter at industry forums and conducts in-house training for clients. He is a guest lecturer in law and architecture at the University of Melbourne.
