Josh acts for innovative businesses and institutions, including technology companies, manufacturers, and franchise networks.  He also advises institutional clients and government on complex regulatory matters (including major projects and outsourcing), and technology procurement.

Josh advises on all aspects of intellectual property creation, acquisition, commercialisation, protection and enforcement of intellectual property assets.  He has particular expertise in trade mark prosecution and enforcement, and in multi-jurisdictional IP licensing arrangements.

Josh also regularly acts for government on complex regulatory reform matters, and technology procurement.

Josh's competition and regulatory practice covers merger review, ACCC investigations, structuring of commercial transactions, and the design and implementation of competition compliance programs.

He also advises franchisors on the establishment and development of franchised businesses and related IP and competition issues.

Josh is highly regarded for his strategic advice on large and complex projects.  Under his leadership, Josh's team of specialists advises on multi-jurisdictional commercialisation and licensing arrangements, major technology procurements, regulatory reform, and major government procurement.

Josh's dual specialisation in IP and competition law, built over more than 20 years in private practice, gives him a rare perspective on the connection between commercialisation, franchising and distribution networks, and regulated markets.

Josh has worked with innovative industries throughout his career, from start-up businesses through to major enterprises.  He is also a director of SOUTHSTART, Australia's largest and longest-running festival of innovation and startups.

Josh's regulatory expertise in major government projects and technology procurements is market-leading in South Australia.
