Ted Liu currently co-leads the Banking and Finance and Capital Markets practices with Dr. Lin. He is admitted to the Taiwan Bar and holds both Securities Representative and Futures Representative licenses. He also holds an LL.M. and an MBA with a focus on finance and investment banking. Ted brings extensive in-house and advisory experience in the financial services sector.

Prior to joining private practice, he served as legal counsel at a leading Taiwanese investment bank, where he advised various business units on legal, regulatory and compliance matters. This experience has given him a broad and practical understanding of the operations and regulatory landscape of major financial institutions, including wealth management, securities and bond underwriting, proprietary trading and investment activities. Following his MBA studies at Georgetown University, Ted joined PwC Legal, where he advised on and managed large-scale financial and regulatory projects, including initiatives relating to AML and CRS. He subsequently joined Lin & Partners in 2019.

Ted’s practice focuses on banking, finance and capital markets. He advises a diverse range of clients, including domestic and international commercial banks, investment banks, private banks, fund management companies and financial technology companies. His experience covers syndicated lending, cross-border financing and transactions, market entry and regulatory matters for foreign financial institutions, and advising international investment banks on the issuance of overseas bonds and structured products in Taiwan.

In recent years, Ted has also advised international private banks and collaborated closely with Big Four accounting firms and other professional advisers on wealth management, family governance and succession planning for high-net-worth individuals and families. His combination of in-house banking experience, financial expertise and legal practice enables him to provide commercially focused advice on complex and cross-border financial transactions and regulatory matters.
