A founding partner of TSMP and an influential figure in the legal industry, Shen Yi graduated from university in 1991. He subsequently topped the English Bar Examinations and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1993. Since then, he has practised exclusively in dispute resolution, primarily as counsel and occasionally as an arbitrator. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2008, at the age of 40, and was elected a Master Bencher of The Middle Temple in 2016.

Recognised internationally as a leading commercial litigator in global legal directories, from Who's Who Legal to Chambers Global, Shen Yi practises across a wide spectrum of corporate, financial, infrastructure, trusts and insolvency law to keep his adrenaline pumping and his neurons challenged. Insatiably curious and an avid reader, he believes that fully understanding a brief requires a wide-ranging and eclectic knowledge of economics, history, business, finance, engineering, science and psychology.

Shen Yi is deeply committed to the wider role of the legal community in Singapore's social and economic system. He served as President of the Law Society and as Vice-President of the Senate of the Singapore Academy of Law from 2015 to 2016. A firm believer that pro bono legal work is a debt every lawyer owes, he also currently serves on the board of the Law Society Pro Bono Services Limited, a registered charity.
