Position
Rachel helps maritime stakeholders navigate emissions reduction and energy transition, working with shipowners, operators, charterers, financiers and technology and energy providers to help them adapt and thrive. Whether advising on the nuances of complex regulations (EU ETS, FuelEU, IMO NZF) or crafting the contractual architecture of new projects (insetting, pooling, retrofitting) Rachel brings pragmatism, clarity and perspective, ensuring her clients are well-prepared for the future.
Rachel's maritime decarbonisation practice is informed by having handled numerous international maritime disputes throughout her career, including LMAA and ad hoc arbitrations, as well as High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings. Her ability to foresee operational, legal and litigation risks, and guard against those, makes her an invaluable asset to her clients, who rely on her to navigate novel situations strategically.
Clients value Rachel for her ability to resolve complex challenge and, drawing on both in-house and private practice experience, provide intelligent advice that balances risk with opportunity. Her involvement in working groups of the International Maritime Organisation, BIMCO, UK Department for Transport and UK Chamber of Shipping underscores her position at the forefront of maritime decarbonisation, making her a leading expert in the field.
