Career

A commercial property specialist ranked in The Legal 500 for three consecutive years (2022–2024), Kate acts for developers and investors on the full lifecycle of their property portfolios: acquisitions and disposals, due diligence, financing, and complex commercial leasing. She structures and negotiates transactions end to end, drawing on more than 20 years in practice, including at Bell Gully in Auckland and Blake Dawson (now Ashurst) in Sydney before joining Tompkins Wake in 2014.

Of Ngāti Maniapoto descent, Kate advises on transactions involving Māori land interests and iwi commercial entities, and brings a depth of understanding of te ao Māori that few property practices in New Zealand can match. She represents her hapū, Ngāwaero, on Ngā Iwi Tōpū o Waipā, the Waipā District Council's iwi consultative committee.
