Career

A graduate of the International Islamic University of Malaysia in 2006, Dr Syed Adam Alhabshi began his legal career as a Judicial Officer from 2007 to 2012, serving as a Magistrate and a Senior Registrar to the Muamalat High Court, both in Kuala Lumpur.  He also served as the Special Officer to the Chief Justice of Malaysia.  He was admitted to the Peninsular Malaysian Bar in May 2010 whilst still a Judicial Officer.

In 2010, he was qualified as a Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) from the International Centre for Islamic Finance Education (INCEIF) and in 2016 he obtained a Ph.D in Islamic Finance from the INCEIF.

After leaving the Judicial Service, Dr. Syed Adam was the Manager of the Shariah Secretariat under the Group Secretarial & Legal Department of a Malaysian financial institution and then became a partner in another large law firm in Kuala Lumpur from 2018 to April 2022, before joining Raja, Darryl & Loh as a Partner in April 2022.

Dr Syed Adam has extensive experience in advising financial institutions on multiple aspects of Islamic finance (including litigation concerning Islamic Finance), regulatory compliance, Islamic capital markets and Takaful (Islamic insurance).  He was recognized recently as a Rising Star Partner in Islamic Finance and Banking & Finance by IFLR 1000.
