From 1979 to 1987, FU Yang worked in the Legislative Affairs Committee of the National People's Congress and served as deputy director of the economic law office. Mainly participated in the formulation of more than 40 laws, such as economic contract law, foreign-related economic contract law, mineral resources law, drug administration law, corporate law, and environmental protection law.

• In 1995, 1999 and 2002, he was elected vice president of the All China Lawyers Association at the third, fourth and fifth National Lawyers' Congress respectively.

• He once served as a distinguished professor at China University of Political Science and Law, joint tutor of master's students at the Law School of Tsinghua University, and distinguished professor at the Law School of Nankai University.

• He once served as an independent director of Tsingtao Beer Co., Ltd., CITIC Guoan Information Industry Co., Ltd., China International Airlines Co., Ltd., and China Film Co., Ltd.

• 1989-2021, he has served as an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission.

• He has been vice president of China Arbitration Law Research Association since December 2014.
