Position

Caitlin is a Managing Associate in the Insurance and Construction Dispute Resolution group, based in London. Prior to joining Simmons & Simmons in December 2022, Caitlin worked in the International Arbitration (Construction Disputes) group of a US firm in London.

Caitlin specialises in the avoidance and resolution of disputes arising out of complex construction, engineering and infrastructure projects, advising both contractors and owners.

Caitlin has advised on projects in dispute throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and in Australasia. Her practice has a particular focus on major international projects, across such industries as energy, oil and gas, transport and infrastructure.

While Caitlin is experienced with all common forms of dispute resolution, she specialises in international arbitration.

Relevant experience includes:

  • Representing an international oil & gas company in a large arbitration proceeding resulting from the consolidation of multiple ICC proceedings concerning the construction of an LNG processing facility.
  • Acting for an Eastern European government employer in multiple Dispute Board and ICC arbitration proceedings arising out of a number of road infrastructure projects.
  • Representing a state owned developer in an arbitration concerning variations and delay to the construction of primary infrastructure works for the development of a new city in the Middle East.
  • Acting for the owner in an ICC arbitration relating to claims arising under a design-build contract relating to an international airport in the Middle East.
  • Acting for a contractor in an ICC arbitration relating to a road infrastructure project in Western Africa.
  • Acting for a contractor in appeal to the UK Supreme Court in connection with design and construction of a hydro-electric project in the UK.
  • Representing a state owner in a USD 8 billion ICC arbitration in respect of delay, disruption, and change order claims arising out of the construction of a nuclear power plant.
  • Representing a European government employer in ICC arbitration proceedings arising out of a road infrastructure project.
