Michael is a Partner in Shoosmiths Pensions team, advising employers and trustees of occupational pension schemes on all aspects of pensions law, as well as dealing with pensions issues on corporate transactions. He also advises employers on compliance with their obligations to enrol employees into a workplace pension.

He has over 25 years of experience, and is work includes a mix of advising on the day-to-day governance of schemes, drafting scheme documentation, responding to member complaints and working on one-off projects such a scheme mergers and employer restructuring. He has particular experience in risk management projects such as buy-ins and buyouts.

Michael condenses complex legal issues affecting pension schemes into clear, straightforward advice, helping his clients understand and effectively manage their schemes. He help clients understand and mitigate the legal risks they face and to find commercial, pragmatic solutions.
