Position
Emma has more than 20 years' experience advising businesses, boards, GCs and in-house legal teams on the resolution of complex, high-value and business critical commercial disputes. She is recognised for delivering pragmatic, commercially focussed advice that helps clients manage legal, operational and reputational risk while remaining focussed on their wider business objectives.
Emma has particular expertise in:
Commercial disputes and litigation: Emma advises on a broad range of complex commercial disputes including, contract and warranty claims; shareholder and governance disputes; and professional negligence claims and procurement challenges. She has extensive experience in resolving matters through litigation, mediation and other forms of ADR, helping clients achieve pragmatic, commercially focussed outcomes.
Litigation finance: Emma is recognised for her expertise in litigation funding and advises businesses, claimants, law firms and funders on funding structures and packages, including funding agreements and ATE policies. She helps clients assess funding options and develop dispute strategies that maximise commercial value while managing financial risk.
Trusted adviser: Emma works closely with GCs, in-house legal teams, boards and senior executives to develop dispute resolution and risk management strategies that align with commercial priorities, protect business relationships where possible and support long term objectives.
Career
After starting her career at Wragge & Co LLP, Emma then spent 11 years at Gowling WLG, where she became a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation team and led its litigation finance practice.
