Career
Nancy Zhang’s practice includes mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring and real estate. She has substantial experience in counseling offshore clients in mergers and acquisitions and real estate investments in China.
Ms. Zhang has insights in critical areas relating to mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructuring transactions in China and has helped clients design creative transaction structures to maximize their interests. She has advised clients and investors in energy, life science, fresh produce, heavy-duty machinery, aviation parts, commodities, real estate, hospitality, financial service, and asset management sectors.
Ms. Zhang’s real estate expertise includes real estate development, sales, acquisition of existing or unfinished buildings, joint ventures, acquisition of existing project companies, lease transactions, finance structures, real estate-backed non-performing assets, management and operation of finished projects, and other real-estate related matters.
In addition, she has counseled and advised on general corporate matters to clients in various sectors and industries.
Since 2011, Ms. Zhang has been recommended as a ‘leading attorney’ by Chambers & Partners. She is also a Who’s Who Legal: Thought Leader in M&A and Governance since 2020, in addition to being recognized as one of China’s foremost lawyers in ‘Who’s Who Legal: M&A and Governance’ since 2017, and ‘Who's Who Legal: Real Estate’ since 2015, a ‘leading attorney’ in real estate by Asialaw Profiles in 2019, a ‘leading attorney’ in real estate and construction by China Law & Practice in 2015, and named as one of the ‘Top 15 female attorneys in China’ by Asian Legal Business in 2012.
Ms. Zhang is currently an arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, and she is also a specially engaged legal expert of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources.

Education
Ms. Zhang received a Bachelor of Arts from Xi’an Jiaotong University and a Master of Laws from China University of Political Science & Law. She also holds a Master of Laws from UC Berkeley School of Law.
