Career

Mr. Yang joined JunHe in 2008 and is based in our Beijing head office.  From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Yang acted as PRC legal counsel for the Sojitz Corporation, a Japanese general investment and trading company headquartered in Tokyo.  He advised the Sojitz Corporation on legal matters relating to nearly 100 companies invested by the Sojitz Corporation in China.  Since his return to JunHe, Mr. Yang has practiced with our Japanese/Korean-related Business Group.  He has more than 11 years of experience advising clients on Japanese-related issues.

Mr. Yang has advised numerous major multinational corporations and large Chinese companies in the areas of foreign investment, mergers and restructuring, premerger notification and merger review, divestment, liquidation and compliance review. He has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical, automotive, energy, food and chemical industries.

In the field of foreign investments in China, Mr. Yang has participated in dozens of M&A projects and has advised clients during the entire project process. This has covered project site selection, investment structuring, project financing and guarantees, due diligence, drafting and negotiation of transaction documents, premerger notification and merger review, communication with government authorities, project approval and closing.  In particular, he has represented large Japanese companies in nearly 100 divestment and liquidation projects in China, with respect to redundancies, shareholder disputes and debt settlement in complex divestment cases.

In the field of Chinese outbound investments in Japan, Mr. Yang has recently represented many Chinese companies in their investments in Japan, based on the practical experience he has accumulated in Japanese companies over many years. He has assisted clients in handling investment control, due diligence, and the drafting and negotiating of transaction documents and closing. He is also highly experienced in mitigating the concerns and resistance of Japanese companies on their acquisition by Chinese companies.
